This
guide evolved after Ruth started to write a book about children's
development. After heading a chapter "Finding Quality Child Care"
Ruth realised that this topic warranted more than a chapter.
As a parent, you are the most
important person in your child's life and this is not going to change
with the use of Child Care. Parents worry that their role as
mother/father will somehow be diminished. The dynamics of care will
change but this can be a positive and rewarding experience for
everyone. It is possible to be an intergral part of your child's
day
and overall child care experience. With any big change
(particularly when it involves young children), planning for the change
is the key. Having a strategy in place, to ensure that this new
change is positive and supported within the family is important.
The guide
takes parents step by step through the process of finding a centre.
Ruth has written the guide to ensure that it is practical and user
friendly. She often gives examples from her experiences both as a
Director and a parent using Child Care. She addresses many parents'
fears about using Child Care and offers some practical solutions. The
guide also gives insight into the key qualities and care practices that
are found in top performing centres.
Choosing Child Care is a eight chapter 64 page guide/book
that also includes two pull out checklists that summarise key points.
